This is the success story of a Nanhi Kali who overcame all the barriers and cleared Class X Board Examinations.
Reeta Dodiyar belongs to Chandragarh Jholi village situated in Bajna cluster in Ratlam district. It is 40 Kms away from cluster head quarter. The village mainly has a tribal population and is underprivileged when it comes to basic facilities. Reena’s family comes under ‘Adiwasi’ tribe, one of the most primitive and backward tribes present in today’s scenario. They are very poor, with absolutely no asset available in the house. They own some land, but it is non-irrigated. For a family of six members, it is a struggle for survival. They migrate twice in a year to earn some money as daily wage labourers. The average annual earning of the family is below Rs 25,000.
Reeta is an obedient and shy child in her family. She has the responsibility of looking after her siblings as well as other household tasks like fetching water from outside and occasional cooking.
Reeta is the only girl who has cleared Class X Board Examinations out of 23 girls in Chandragarh Jholi village. She has scored 54% marks and has shown consistent improvement in studies.
