This is the success story of Adapa Pragathi who cleared her Class X board examinations with flying colours. She scored a remarkable 83% marks and is truly a fighter. She belongs to a tribal community in the village of Bakuru, Hukumpet Mandal, Araku and she studied in T.W.A.G.H. School, Sri Krishnapuram , Paderu Mandal.
Pragati is a single parent child. Her father had deserted the family when she was months old baby. He even had sold out all assets and left them completely empty handed. Pragati’s mother Eswaramma took shelter in her maternal house where her sole brother was the only bread winner. She used to work as daily wage labourer in nearby fields to support him. Pragati was taken in as a Nanhi Kali in 2006 when she was in Standard II. The cruel circumstances shocked the Community Activists and Academic Resource Coordinators too when they conducted home visit to counsel Pragati’s mother. Now her mother is full of gratitude for Project Nanhi Kali and full of pride for her daughter.
Pragati’s Head Master, school teachers and school staff are all proud of her achievement in Board Exams. According to them, Pragati is a very bright and meritorious student and has good conduct. They bless her with a bright future.
Pragati says she wants to study in science stream and particularly take up Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for her Class XII. She wishes to be a teacher and serve needy girls in her place and do her bit to support girl child education. She is very grateful to Project Nanhi Kali which supported her whole heartedly by providing study material, books, stationary, note books, uniforms, shoes, etc. She also mentioned the constant moral support by her Nanhi Kali tutor to be a gift of god.
We wish her all the success she dreams of, for her future!
Pragati is celebrating her success with her mother and uncle.
