Mogasala Aruna is presently studying in class 10 at GHS, Dumbriguda. She is the youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Naraya. The family of 3 daughters and parents survive on the meager income earned by the parents. Aruna’s father is an alcoholic and he wastes all his earnings on alcohol. Hence, the whole family depends on the meager income of her mother. Aruna’s father was not ready to provide financial support towards her education. As a result, Aruna’s elder sisters discontinued their studies after class 5. Fortunately, Aruna managed to continue to study as her mother didn’t want to stop her education. She wished to see a day when Aruna would have a respectable job.
During the home visits, Aruna’s mother expressed her happiness about Project Nanhi Kali’s Sponsorship programme. She recalled an emotionally moving incident. In her words “When my daughter was studying in class 9, one day she came running out in the middle of an examination and asked me for 5 rupees to buy a pen. I was shocked to learn that she came out of the examination hall as the only ballpoint pen she possessed had run out of ink. In that situation, I was so scared that she left her classroom in the middle of the examination. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a single paisa to give her to buy a pen. But now, my daughter is covered under Project Nanhi Kali’s sponsorship programme and she is being helped exactly at the time when she is in most need, as she is studying in class 10. I thank Naandi for the Project Nanhi Kaliprogramme”.
