Mumbai, 20th May, 2025
The Rotary Club of Bombay (RCB) has awarded Project Nanhi Kali the prestigious Anita Parikh Empowerment of Women Award for Rotary Year 2024-25. The award was given to Sheetal Mehta, Trustee and Executive Director of K. C. Mahindra Education Trust in recognition of unwavering commitment to the cause of empowering underserved girls through education.
Project Nanhi Kali is jointly managed by K. C. Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation. The initiative has provided 874,266 disadvantaged girls across India with the academic and material support they need to stay in school, succeed, and ultimately grow into confident, self-reliant women.
Each year, RCB confers 12 such awards across diverse domains to recognize individuals and organizations making outstanding contributions to society. The Anita Parikh Empowerment of Women Award has, since 2000-01, honored exemplary efforts in promoting gender equality and women’s rights.
Now in its 96th year, the Rotary Club of Bombay comprises over 330 members, including leaders from industry, healthcare, law, the arts, finance, and public service — all united by a commitment to service and nation-building.
This recognition marks yet another milestone for Project Nanhi Kali in its mission to ensure that every girl child in India has the right to learn, grow, and thrive.
