Team Sea Hawks creates world record for Project Nanhi Kali

At exactly 2pm on 19th February, 2015, Team Sea Hawks swam into the shores of Mumbai, at the iconic Gateway of India, after having covered 433.11 kms in just 156 hours. In doing so, they created a World Record for the longest open water swim, beating an Israeli team that had previously covered 380 kms.

The Sea Hawks started their swim on 13th February from Dona Paula in Goa, and undertook this very challenging task under pressing circumstances. The team is made of proud members of Indian Armed Forces and defence personnel – Wing Commander Paramvir Singh led the team that consisted of Sergeant Gullupilli Narhari, Sergeant Ankan Kumar Patel, Leading Aircraftman Vicky Tokas (all four Indian Air Force), Assistant Sub-inspector Ganesh Palande (Mumbai Police) and teenager Manav Mehta.

Team Sea Hawks has dedicated this victory to the mission of girl child education and to Project Nanhi Kali. This event and support for Nanhi Kali has been covered extensively in the media, including The Times Of India, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, DNA, and a host of vernacular publications.
