In the last week of January, Mumbai became the meeting ground for 151 Nanhi Kalis who travelled from across the country to take part in the national finale of Toofaan Games Season 6 at Kalina University Grounds, Santacruz. For two vibrant days, the grounds came alive with stories of courage, first-time experiences, and bold aspirations.
Over the years, Toofaan Games has grown into a powerful national platform that uses sport as a tool to build confidence, leadership, and opportunity for girls. Project Nanhi Kali’s annual sporting event is led by the K C Mahindra Education Trust in partnership with Naandi Foundation. The event continues to open doors for girls who have long been excluded from spaces of play and competition. What began as a simple push towards fitness has now become a structured pathway that helps girls discover their strengths both on and off the field.
Where the Journey Begins

For many participants, reaching Mumbai was a milestone in itself. Months of practice at the community level led to district and regional rounds, finally bringing 151 girls together for the Season 6 finale. Stepping onto a university campus in one of India’s busiest cities was a moment of pride especially for those who were travelling outside their home districts or states for the very first time.

The focus of the programme goes far beyond performance. Throughout the event, the girls were guided by trained Skills Associates and mentors who encouraged teamwork, self-belief, and perseverance. Nutrition and medical teams were present on ground to make sure every participant felt supported, energised, and safe reinforcing that care and well-being are central to the Toofaan Games experience.
Alongside the KCMET and Naandi Foundation teams, several donors including Hindustan Colas Private Limited, Mahindra Insurance Brokers Ltd, Mahindra Logistics, Bristlecone, the Cipla Foundation, Citibank, ANZ Bank, as well as individual donors attended the event to encourage and cheer for the girls.
On the Field, Beyond Limits

From short sprints to endurance challenges, the events at Toofaan Games Season 6 invited the girls to test their strength, stamina, and confidence. The atmosphere was charged with excitement, nervous anticipation before each round, cheers from teammates and audiences alike, and quiet moments of focus before the start lines.
Creating Ripples That Travel Home

The impact of Toofaan Games does not end with medals or certificates. When these 151 Nanhi Kalis return to their villages and towns, they carry back more than memories. They take with them new confidence, bigger dreams, and the belief that they belong in spaces of opportunity.
Season 6 once again showed that when girls are given the right platforms, they don’t just participate. They lead, inspire, and challenge old limits. Toofaan Games continues to build more than sporting skills; it nurtures a generation of young girls who are learning to take up space, support one another, and move boldly towards futures they once thought were out of reach.
As the final cheers fade from the grounds at Kalina University, one thing is clear: this is not just a sporting event. It is a growing movement of girls who are reshaping what strength, ambition, and possibility look like in their own lives and for many more who will follow.
