The K. C. Mahindra Education Trust is spearheaded by its panel of eminent trustees:

Anand Mahindra


Anand Mahindra is the Chairman of the US $31.63 billion Mahindra Group and the Executive Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. His tenure has seen the Group expand domestically and internationally into a range of major industrial sectors from automobiles and agriculture to IT and aerospace. The Group has also grown inorganically through acquisitions such as Ssangyong Motors, Reva Electric Car Company, Satyam Computer Services, Peugeot Motorcycles, Gippsland Aeronautics, Aerostaff Australia, Holiday Club Resorts, and Pininfarina S.p.A.

He has served on several influential bodies globally, including the Global Board of Advisors of the Council on Foreign Relations, New York and the International Advisory Council of Singapore’s Economic Development Board. He is currently on the board of Invest India, the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency. Mahindra has been named in Barron's List of Top 30 CEOs worldwide (2016) and Fortune Magazine’s list of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders (2014). He was appointed ‘Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honour’ by the President of the French Republic (2016). In June 2022, he was appointed as a non-official director on the central board of the Reserve Bank.

Mahindra is an incisive business commentator and humanitarian with over 9.5 million followers on Twitter. Among his many social change initiatives is Project Nanhi Kali, which since inception has provided over 500,000 under-privileged girls access to high quality education.

Anuradha Mahindra


Anuradha Mahindra, is a publisher and style icon in India and is married to Indian industrialist Anand Mahindra

She is the publisher of a diverse range of high-end magazines including Verve, a lifestyle and fashion magazine aimed at the modern woman. More than 20 years old, Verve is India's only home-grown women's luxury lifestyle monthly.

Anuradha entered the world of publishing with the goal of showcasing the best of Indian talent in writing, fashion, interiors, and photography. Her newest venture is IQ – The Indian Quarterly – a magazine, which, in the age of Twitter, focuses on thoughtful and long form writing on the model of The New Yorker.

Anuradha Mahindra has the distinction of being one of India's youngest editor-publishers of her time, and as a pioneering media person occupies a place of importance both within and outside the Indian Press fraternity.

Anuradha is on the Advisory Council of ARTISANS'. The group aims to support and grow handmade and creative economies by empowering artisans thereby creating a sustainable marketplace for indigenous art, craft and design.

Anuradha is also on the Advisory Board of The India Story which is a uniquely curated showcase bringing together the very best of what contemporary Indian design and arts retail has to offer. It provides a platform or a launch pad to ensure growth and development of Indian design elements, both within the country and abroad.

Anuradha is on the Board of the Mahindra United World College of India. UWC Mahindra College bears the name of the two individuals who generously bought the land and buildings that make up the College- the late Mr. Harish Mahindra and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors- Mr. Keshub Mahindra of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group. Their vision was to build a school that would bring students from around the world together to live and learn in India.

Anuradha is a Trustee of the K. C. Mahindra Education Trust. Founded in 1953, the Trust supports thousands of socially and economically disadvantaged students with a variety of scholarships, livelihood training programmes and educational and financial support. Some of its prominent projects are Project Nanhi Kali, Mahindra Pride Schools among others

Anuradha Mahindra grew up in Mumbai. She holds a degree in Communications from Simmons College, Boston, as well a degree in psychology from Bombay University. Verve magazine is also an honorary member of Altagamma, the Italian Luxury Council.

Anand and Anuradha Mahindra have two daughters who live and work in New York.

Bharat Doshi


Bharat Doshi, after an exemplary career spanning over four decades in the Mahindra Group, retired as Executive Director and Group CFO, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. in 2013. Whilst at Mahindras, he also led the initiative of conceptualizing, establishing and nurturing Mahindra Finance and was its Chairman from April 2008 to March 2016. Doshi is currently the Chairman of Mahindra Intertrade Limited and is also a Director of Mahindra Holdings Limited, a Trustee of Mahindra Foundation and Governor on the Board of The Mahindra United World College of India.

Doshi was nominated as a Director, for a period of 4 years, on the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India in March 2016. Doshi was an Independent Director on the boards of both Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (2016 to 2021) and Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (2001 to 2019). He is also a member of the Global Leadership Council of LeapFrog Investments, one of the leading impact investing firms.

He has served as a member on several working groups and high-powered committees set up by Reserve Bank of India and the Government of India. He was President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry in 2009 -10. Doshi is a recipient of several top honours including being selected as India’s Best CFO.

Bharat Doshi is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and holds a Master’s degree in Law from Bombay University.

Ulhas Yargop


Ulhas Yargop, worked with the Mahindra Group for 27 years in various capacities, such as General Manager - Corporate Planning, General Manager - Product Planning, General Manager, Mahindra-Ford Project, Treasurer, Group President-IT Sector, Group CTO and Chairman of the Group Sustainability Council. He superannuated in 2019.

Ulhas had previously worked with GKN Automotive Inc., USA as Director of Finance and later with GKN Invel Transmissions Ltd., New Delhi as General Manager – Commercial. He also worked with The Standard Batteries Ltd., Mumbai as Vice President - Industrial.

Ulhas is the Chairman of Bristlecone. He previously served on the boards of Tech Mahindra, AT&T Global Network Services India Pvt. Ltd., Comviva Technologies, FixStream Technologies, d.light design Inc., etc. He also served on the board of Mahindra Satyam from 2009 until it was merged with Tech Mahindra.

Ulhas is a member of the Managing Committee of Harvard Business School (India) Research Center, a member of the Board of Governors of The Mahindra United World College of India, Mahindra University, President-Trustee of Mahindra International School (previously known as Mercedes-Benz International School), a Trustee of K.C. Mahindra Education Trust, Mahindra Foundation, Tech Mahindra Foundation, Mahindra World School Educational Trust, Chennai, Mahindra Education Society, Mumbai and Mahindra Academy, Zaheerabad. He previously served on The United World Colleges (International) board.

Ulhas has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Master in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

Uma Ranjit Malhotra


Uma Malhotra set up a Play School in 1985 called First Steps. Prior to this she used to work as a teacher in West Wind Nursery School. Her experience and qualifications in the teaching sector make her an invaluable member of the Trust. Uma has now been providing an opportunity to children from underprivileged communities to avail of quality education at First Steps. Uma Malhotra set up KARO in March 2015 to provide holistic healthcare through financial and emotional support to patients in need, through their medical journey. KARO is a public charitable trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act of 1950.

Leena Labroo


Leena Labroo graduated From UPenn with a degree in Mass Communications. She has worked in Advertising & Market Research companies and is presently a partner at Niana, a company who specializes in home fragrance. She spent over 10 years at Youth reach, a non-profit organisation that focuses on social change using education, health care and skill training interventions. She is also actively involved in supporting Shantidevi Charitable Trust which provides supplementary free education to over 5000 disadvantaged children.

Sheetal Mehta


Sheetal Mehta is the Executive Director of the K. C. Mahindra Education Trust since 2002. She is also Senior Vice President – CSR for the Mahindra Group and a member of the CSR Council and has played a key role in designing the CSR architecture and road map for the Mahindra Group. Sheetal is the Managing Trustee of Mahindra Foundation India; President, Mahindra Foundation USA; and Trustee & President, Mahindra Education Society which looks after 2 schools. In addition, she is the Director of Mahindra Namaste and Mahindra Retail Pvt. Ltd.

Sheetal began her career as a Management Trainee in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd in 1982. During her two decades in the Marketing department of the Automotive Sector, Sheetal lead the strategy for the flagship products as Product Manager for the Armada, Bolero & Voyager. She was deputed to the Mahindra Ford Joint Venture and launched the Ford Escort in India as their Brand Manager. She has graduated in Psychology, Sociology & Economics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai and has attended a number of executive development courses and marketing management courses at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Bangalore & Calcutta and National University of Singapore, Singapore, including a course on Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management at Harvard Business School.
