Project Nanhi Kali's Boston Chapter is proud to announce that Project Nanhi Kali was recently chosen as the 'Charity of the Year' by the Tufts Association of South Asians (TASA) student and was represented at “EK JHALAK”- their annual Cultural Show held at the Cohen Auditorium at Tufts University on February 26 and 27, 2010.
Tufts Association of South Asians (TASA) is an student organization dedicated to the celebration of the South Asian culture and its people. Open to all Tufts students, the group organizes events to celebrate South Asian holidays and works to promote discussion on issues that affect the Asian sub-continent.
The cultural show "Ek Jhalak" saw a number of dance performances by the Tufts Bhangra, Garba and Indian Fusion Teams, along with some comedic skits and musical acts, performed by Tufts students. The Boston Chapter members hosted a fund raising table outside the auditorium to spread the word about the cause amongst the 1000+ attendees. While the show went on inside the auditorium, representatives from the Boston Chapter, actively handed out Nanhi Kali brochures and flyers, educating Tufts students and locals about the project and it's activities in India. Partial proceeds from food sales and raffle ticket sales from the event will be donated to the charity to sponsor the education of underprivileged girls in India.
