What is the cost for sponsoring 1 Nanhi Kali?
Rs. 1800 per annum for a Nanhi Kali (Studying in Std. 1 to std.7)
Rs. 2500 per annum for a Nanhi Kali (Studying in Std. 8 to Std 10). However, if you are paying online (through credit card or net banking) an additional transaction cost of Rs. 110 (for Rs.1800 sponsorship) and Rs. 200 (for Rs. 2500 sponsorship) will be applicable.
How is the sponsorship cost used for the education and welfare of the girl children?
The money that you donate is utilized in the following ways:
Material support including stationery, books, hygiene material, uniforms, shoes, under clothing, etc. Academic support within the school premises before or after school hours.
How can you make the payments?
Donations can be made by cheque or Demand Draft in favour of "K.C. Mahindra Education Trust A/C Nanhi Kali ". These would need to be sent to the KCMET office:

How long is the period of sponsorship?
The period of sponsorship is for a year. However you can decide to sponsor the education of as many Nanhi Kalis as you wish for a number of years instead of just one year. For example, you can sponsor one Nanhi Kali for 3 years at a time or sponsor 5 Nanhi Kalis for one year and renew the sponsorship each year. The choice is yours.
What will you receive after sponsoring a Nanhi Kali
As a sponsor you will receive the following during your annual sponsorship period :
- A post card size photograph of your Nanhi Kali and a profile of your Nanhi Kali, which gives you details of her family and her living environment- in approximately 60 days of receipt of contribution.
- First Progress Reports, informing you how well your Nanhi Kali is doing in school - in approximately 6 months of receipt of contribution and allotment of Nanhi Kali.
- Second Progress Report - in approximately 1 year (towards the end of the sponsorship period )
- In addition you may receive correspondence in the form of cards and drawings from your Nanhi Kali, along with the progress reports.
Can you visit your Nanhi Kali?
You may visit the project where your Nanhi Kali is being educated. The visit will be organized through KCMET. No sponsor will be allowed to have a one to one interaction with the child, instead we encourage you to interact with all the children in a group.
How do you keep in touch with Nanhi Kali?
Let your Nanhi Kali know, that you remember her by sending her letters and Birthday cards. Post these to the following address and rest assured she will receive them.

Are you the only sponsor for your Nanhi Kali?
Yes, during your sponsorship period you will be the only person sponsoring your Nanhi Kali. After the end of the period, you may choose to renew the sponsorship, by sending us the renewal amount. However, if the sponsorship amount does not reach us within 2 months of the due date another mentor will be found for your Nanhi Kali. If you contact us after those 2 months and want to continue supporting the program we will assign you a new Nanhi Kali.
Are there any tax benefits for donating to Nanhi Kali?
Yes, all contributions are exempt under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act.
Will you send me tax exemption certificate?
Yes, we do send you a copy of the tax exemption certificate along with your receipt once you make your donation.
Can I choose to sponsor a Nanhi Kali in a specific area/region
We do not give the choice of area/region/caste/creed etc for selection of Nanhi Kalis, since our aim is to reach out to every underprivileged girl child in India irrespective of these criteria. We have a list of children who are waiting to be sponsored under the Nanhi Kali programme, so we urge our donors to donate for the education of girl children irrespective of these conditions.

Yes you can, just mail us your query and we will get back to you. Further the six monthly progress reports of your Nanhi Kali will highlight the factors possibly affecting the performance of your Nanhi Kali as identified by the teacher and the implementing NGO in charge of your Nanhi Kali.
On what basis are the Nanhi Kalis selected?
The girls are selected on the following criteria-
- Girl children that are enrolled in government schools
- Girls belonging to the poorest sections of society (Annual family income lesser than Rs. 15000)
- Girls having illiterate parents
- Girls belonging to SC/ST or migrating communities
- The eldest girl in the family and girls with many siblings
- Girls from communities where social stereotyping is prevalent (female infanticide, early marriage etc.)
- Girls from female headed households.

KCMET consider our donors a part of the Nanhi Kali family and will take measures to ensure that their privacy is always protected. Your personal information will remain with the K C Mahindra Education Trust and will not be divulged to any other institute.

In case of changes in personal details we encourage you to notify us immediately by email to enable us to make the concerned changes in our database.
Can I donate for the renewal of the Nanhi Kali sponsorship online?

Can I send a gift for my Nanhi Kali ?
We do not encourage sending of gifts as we do not want other children to feel 'left out'. In the event a cheque is sent as a gift, we will use it to distribute sweets to all the girls in the Nanhi Kalis class.

What is the purpose of a login id & password
All donors receive a system generated login id and password, communicated through the letter dispatched with the receipt. The Login details will enable the sponsor to view their Nanhi Kalis profile and progress report online on this website. Further this account could be used by the sponsor if he wishes to renew the sponsorship of his Nanhi Kalis or sponsor new Nanhi Kalis online through the payment gateway.
The login details can also be requested through the 'GET LOGIN DETAILS' section of this website.
